Church and religious history

Research on modern church and religious history

As my second subject of study (alongside history) was Protestant religious education, I have been particularly interested in dealing with questions of church history (albeit from a profane historical perspective) over the last ten years. This also resulted in the choice of topic for my habilitation project, which focussed on milieu formation processes in north-west German Protestantism between the middle of the 19th century and the First World War. In addition to this (and partly related to this), I also worked very intensively on Bremen's church history, which is very interesting for historians.
