Latest news

Here you will find up-to-date information on the Nutrition and Functionality in Old Age group, e.g. on participation in studies.

People (70+) wanted for study!
MotiV: Measure, optimise, train for the individual improvement of nutrition and exercise

Participation in a study on nutrition and functionality in old age (EFA) possible!

Who can take part?

  • You are at least 70 years old.
  • You are mobile within Oldenburg.
  • You are interested in information on nutrition and exercise.
  • You suspect that you have experienced initial difficulties with mobility (e.g. balance problems) or nutrition (e.g. loss of appetite, weight loss).
  • No previous technical experience required!

What is it about?

The digital support system "MotiV" is being tested in a twelve-week randomised control study at the University of Oldenburg. This system consists of a tablet-based app and a measurement and training station developed at the University of Oldenburg.

All participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups:

  • Intervention group: Uses the "MotiV" support system for 12 weeks.
  • Control group: Does not receive any intervention, but is examined at the beginning and end of the study like the other group.

The system enables you to measure your nutritional and exercise status independently and to train in a targeted manner - individually tailored to your needs.

What is your contribution?

You support us in testing the effectiveness of "MotiV".
First, we check your eligibility. You will then be randomly assigned to one of two groups:

  • Intervention group: You use the app and the training station over 12 weeks to measure and train your mobility and nutrition.
  • Control group: You will not use the support system, but will be assessed at the beginning and end of the study in the same way as the other group.

Your participation will help us to understand whether digital support helps older people to maintain their health.

Why are we doing this?

Nutritional and movement problems in old age are often only recognised when restrictions in everyday life are already occurring. However, early detection and targeted measures can prevent impairments.

Through the study, we want to test whether a digital approach such as "MotiV" can help older people to remain self-determined and healthy.

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact us without obligation!

We look forward to hearing from you!
