Co-operation with BYRD / University of Bremen
Since 2016, there has been a cooperation agreement between the universities of Bremen and Oldenburg in the area of graduate support. Doctoral candidates and postdocs at the University of Oldenburg can therefore take advantage of the BYRD(Bremen Early Career Researcher Development) qualification programmes. Why not take a look right now!
OLB Foundation Science Prize
The OLB Foundation of Oldenburgische Landesbank AG is once again awarding the OLB Science Prize in 2026. Applications are open to anyone who has submitted an academic thesis (Diplom, Magister, State Examination, Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral thesis) since 17 December 2024 and whose examination process has been completed. With total prize money of 22,000 euros, the award honours particularly impressive academic theses produced at state-recognised universities and higher education institutions in the region and which stand out for their quality. This makes the OLB Academic Prize one of the most prestigious awards for early-career academics in north-west Germany and, at the same time, the highest-value academic prize of its kind in the region.
The deadline for submissions is 16 December. Further information can be found at olb.de/wissenschaftspreis.
Award for outstanding doctorate or doctoral supervisor
The Oldenburg University Society (UGO) now recognises outstanding achievement in the supervision of PhD students, in addition to its already established awards for outstanding doctoral theses and excellent research. The award is intended to recognise outstanding supervision as a demanding task and to highlight the above-average commitment to fostering the next generation of academics. Further information on this can be found on the UGO website:
