Early Bird Meeting

Every year, we organise an early bird meeting for all new first-year students, which takes place at the end of September before O-Week. Here you already have the opportunity to get to know the university and your new fellow students and to ask all your questions about the start of your studies and beyond. After a relaxed afternoon, we will go to the pub and introduce you to the tradition of "pub evenings".

Come along - we look forward to seeing you!

Mathematics preliminary course

Physics is a natural science that works a lot with mathematical methods. To make your start in university mathematics a success, we therefore recommend that you attend a preliminary course in maths before starting your Bachelor's degree.

In the winter semester 2025/26, various pre-courses in mathematics will be organised in presence. In addition to the maths basics, you will also get to know some of your new fellow students! You can find all information about the preliminary courses here:

Mathematics preliminary course

As an addition or alternative to the preliminary course in presence there is the Online Mathematics Bridge Course OMB+. This is recommended by the Institute of Physics to ensure that all students have approximately the same level of basic mathematical knowledge.

Orientation week

The orientation-week (O-week) is your first week at university. There is also an international orientation-week one week before that. There will be no regular lectures or seminars, but lots of events, which will show you, how to orient yourself in the university. We also help you with your schedule for your courses or we show you, how to use the campusmangement-system Stud.IP. You can also get to know other students in the first semester. There are central events from the university and there are events from us, the student council of physics. For further information please look at the German O-week website.

Here our current time schedule:

Mentoring program

The mentoring programme is a program for which you can register as a freshman in order to have better first steps into university and to get to know new people. You can find further information here:
