Your way to the guest lecture programme

From 01.03.2026 to 30.04.2026 you can register as a guest student for the summer semester 2026 . You do not have to fulfil any admission requirements to register as a guest student.

If you would like to register as a guest student for the first time, please start with the first registration step.
If you were already registered as a guest student in the previous semester, you already have an active user account and can start with the third registration step.

1. apply for access data

In order to register online for courses as a guest student, you first need a university user account (consisting of a user name and password) for the Stud.IP learning management system of the University of Oldenburg.

To apply for a user account, click on the link below and fill in the online form with your personal details:

Apply for access data

After submitting your data, you will receive your personal access data in two emails (sender is servicedesk@uni-oldenburg.de). In the first email you will receive your user name (consisting of four letters followed by four numbers), in the second email your personal initial password.

Once you have your access data, continue with the second login step.

2. activation of the user account

In order to register for courses as a guest student in the university's learning management system Stud.IP, you must first activate your user account by replacing the initial password sent to you by email with your own, personally created password.

You can change your password here:Activate password

The first step of account activation is done, now comes the second: In order to be able to fully use your user account, you will need to set up two-factor authentication (2FA).

What does this mean?
To log in to Stud.IP you need

  • Your user name and password
  • an additional one-time password (TOTP), which is generated every 30 seconds via an app on your smartphone or tablet

To set up 2FA once, you need a corresponding app on your smartphone or tablet. To do this, select the app that matches your device's operating system. In principle, you can use any authentication app, but the university's IT services recommend using the following free app:

2FAS (This app works with Android devices(link), as well as with and Apple devices(link). Search for "2FAS Auth".

For a more detailed explanation of the 2FA setup, we have created an explanatory video for you. Alternatively, you can also use the written step-by-step instructions.

Notes: Use a laptop or PC for the one-off setup and install the app on your smartphone or tablet with a camera function. In future, you will then only need the device on which the app is installed to log in.

To set up the app, please go to the following website: 2FA portal of the University of Oldenburg

If you need further assistance, please contact the University IT Advisory Service directly by phone, email or on site at the University of Oldenburg library.

3. registration for events

You are now successfully registered in the Stud.IP learning management system and can access the course registration for guest students.

  1. First select your desired courses from the course catalogue for guest students and make a note of the course number or course title:

Course catalogue for guest students winter semester 2025/26

Please note: The list of courses is still being updated by the Institutes until the beginning of September, so not all courses are currently visible.
  2. Now click on the following link and log in to Stud.IP with your university account and the 2FA confirmation:

Guest registration for courses in Stud.IP
  3. Once the Stud.IP page has opened, click on "Guest registration" in the top toolbar and then click on the "New registration" action (in the window on the left). Here you can add/change your personal details if necessary and register for your specific course for the relevant semester.

You can find out how to apply for courses via Stud.IP in this explanatory video.

Please note: If you do not register for courses as a guest student, your university account will be deleted after the registration deadline.

4. receipt of the authorisation documents

After you have submitted your binding registration in Stud.IP, you will receive your admission documents and invoice by email/post (depending on your selection) and can attend your desired courses according to your admission.

The documents will be sent to your university email account , which you can access with your login details via the following link:

We explain how to find this university mailbox and why you need it in the following short explanatory video
