Master's degree programme: German as a foreign language
The Master's degree programme in German as a Foreign Language/German as a Second Language imparts comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of German as a second and foreign language. Students should also be sensitised to the opportunities and value of multilingualism and be enabled to promote this in their academic appointments.
The degree programme has a linguistic (multilingualism research) as well as a didactic and language pedagogical orientation. A total of 120 credit points are earned over the course of the 4-semester degree programme.
The course consists of five compulsory modules(linguistics, German as a second and foreign language, contrastive linguistics, intercultural communication and foreign and second language didactics), one compulsory elective module from the FK III(faculty module), a professionalisation module (a work placement and accompanying course as well as a language course are recommended) and a final module(Master's thesis).
