Bachelor's and Master's thesis in medieval studies

Of course, you can also write your Bachelor's and/or Master's thesis on a medieval subject. Such a thesis can currently be supervised by Prof. Dr Albrecht Hausmann and Dr Britta Bußmann as first and/or second examiners. Prof Dr Meves only supervises theses in exceptional cases.

To arrange a topic, please contact the supervisor of your choice in person in good time. Please ensure that you meet the deadlines specified in the examination regulations and in the registration procedure of the Institute for German Studies. A Bachelor's thesis is usually around 30 pages long and should show that you can familiarise yourself with a topic independently and deal with it in accordance with the requirements of academic work. A Master's thesis is correspondingly longer ("at least 60, at most 70 pages long") and should demonstrate an even greater degree of academic competence and independence. Each summer semester, we offer a one-hour seminar to accompany Bachelor's and Master's theses.

General information on theses at the Institute (dates, deadlines, etc.) can be found here (Bachelor's thesis) and here (Master's thesis).
