From 5 to 9 September 2022, the "Summer Academy Low German: Language - Literature - Didactics" took place for the first time at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Oldenburg. A total of 15 students and doctoral candidates from Berlin, Flensburg, Freiburg, Göttingen, Groningen, Kiel, Marburg, Oldenburg, Rostock and Wuppertal took the opportunity to engage in dialogue with academics from the field of Low German philology from Berlin, Greifswald, Flensburg, Hamburg, Kiel, Oldenburg and Rostock and with each other. With an event that firstly included the language, literature and didactics of Low German in equal measure, secondly took into account the diachronic and synchronic perspective and thirdly was explicitly aimed at a young academic audience, the Low German department in Oldenburg established a completely new format in the field of Low German research and teaching in the North German academic landscape. The participants particularly praised the practical language exercises, the variety and breadth of the courses on offer and, last but not least, the "constant discussions that broadened their own horizons".
