Credits and examinations
Under certain conditions, guest students may also sit module examinations or sub-module examinations from the university’s course programme and receive a certificate for the credits they have achieved.
The credit points (CP) earned could, for example, be credited towards a future degree programme. The examination regulations in Oldenburg stipulate that credit points acquired as part of a visiting student programme may, to a certain extent, be credited towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme. We cannot provide a general answer as to whether this also applies to other universities. As a precaution, we recommend contacting the relevant university to find out.
Examination fees
An examination fee of EUR 25 per credit point, payable in addition to the guest student fees, is charged for sitting module or sub-module examinations. This fee is due upon submission of the application and receipt of the relevant invoice. The examination fee must be paid even if you fail the examination or do not sit it. If you withdraw from the examination in advance, we will retain an administration fee of €45.00.
Requirements
To sit an examination, you must submit a separate, written proposal to the C3L Guest Student Office (see left-hand column), ideally 4 weeks before the examination date. This process involves checking whether the following requirements are met:
- Formal registration as a guest student
- Registration as a guest student on the courses relevant to the examination module
- Availability of places on the degree programme
- The framework conditions of the degree programme must permit this examination option
- Approval must have been obtained from the module coordinator and/or the lecturer/examiner (signature on the proposal required)
- An additional examination fee of 25 EUR per credit point (CP) must have been paid
Important: Auditors are not entitled to sit examinations. Lecturers/examiners may reject an examination request for a variety of reasons.
