Infrastructure
The development of new processes, their production and their deployment on various platforms go closely together. The Marine Sensor Systems WG operates central infrastructures of the ICBM and supports their users in scientific, technical and logistical applications. This includes the measuring station at Spiekeroog, which has been operational since 2002, the research boats Otzum, Navicula and Zephyr, and the workshop at the Wilhelmshaven site. The Spiekeroog Coastal Observatory (SCO), established since 2018, is built on the existing infrastructure and provides a variety of research opportunities for many inter- and transdisciplinary projects.
Since January 2017, the Center for Marine Sensors (ZfMarS) has been established as a new building at the ICBM site in Wilhelmshaven together with the working group Processes and Sensing of Marine Interfaces.
