Oldenburg Research and Development Institute for Computing Science Tools and Systems The OFFIS affiliated institute, founded in 1991, is the most important factor in the Department's scientific environment. The Institute works closely with the University of Oldenburg on the basis of a co-operation agreement. It sees itself as an application-oriented research and development institute, a centre of excellence for selected areas of Computing Science and its fields of application. OFFIS takes up the results of basic university research in Computing Science and, at thematic interfaces, also neighbouring disciplines, picks up on new market requirements thanks to its many years of experience in co-operation projects and finally links the two through application-oriented research and development.
