On 11 November 2016, the DFG approved the second phase of the Research Training Group "System Correctness under Adverse Conditions -- SCARE" applied for by the Department of Computing Science. See the press release of the University of Oldenburg.

The first 4.5-year phase of the research training group began on 1 October 2012. Fourteen three-year DFG-funded doctoral student positions were filled.

The second phase began on 1 April 2017 and will also last 4.5 years. During this time, the DFG will fund a further 15 three-year doctoral positions.
