Developing a climate adaptation concept for Kornkraft Naturkost GmbH (EKaKorn)
The Kornkraft Naturkost GmbH is a wholesale company in the food industry. The impact of climate change relates to the company in different respects:
- Increased cooling demand due to increased heat days
- Increasing vulnerability of the company during power outages caused by extreme weather events
- Extreme weather in the growing areas of the supplier causes delivery problems
In the project EkaKorn the company-specific opportunities and risks of climate change impacts will be systematically identified, recommendations derived and integrated into the business strategy. All business divisions as well as regional suppliers and customers should be integrated in order to develop an adequate adaptation concept for the entire value chain.
Another component of the project is the realization of a feasibility study for a climate-adapted heating and cooling management for the business location.
The PIN team supports the work packages: vulnerability analysis, identification of needs for action on the basis of scenarios, development of an integrated climate change adaptation concept.
