Management for Climate Adaptation in Learning Organizations

This project wants to enable companies to shape management-related learning processes in relation to adaptation to the consequences of climate change as a (self-) learning organisation. To this end, individual company members and students are to be qualified within the framework of training modules to initiate and accompany corresponding learning processes in their companies and to develop them (further) themselves.
The educational modules are based on two guiding concepts that are of great importance in the context of climate change and adaptation: The guiding concepts of resilience and the concept of learning organizations. These enable companies to identify different organisational and management-specific challenges with regard to adaptation to the consequences of climate change, to develop and implement suitable measures.
For the development of climate-related educational modules, a range of action and
target group-specific access is necessary to achieve a high degree of connectivity. Therefore, not only the identified guiding concepts are of importance, but also the respective management discipline in which operational decision-makers are active and in which climate adaptation issues can be integrated. In business-related climate adaptation research, four management areas have emerged as particularly relevant:

  • Strategic Management,
  • Innovation management,
  • Leadership and Business Development as well as
  • Environmental and sustainability management.

These can be used as "entry points" for the integration of climate adaptation measures into corporate management and are to be the focus of the project.
