Intelligent transport systems
Intelligent transport systems
The department deals with the design of intelligent transport systems (ITS) and central ITS components - for example with automated and cooperative road vehicles. It is precisely the combination of high requirements from the area of concepts and technologies with equally high requirements from the area of human/technology integration that makes the design of ITS a special field of activity.
A purely technology-centred view of ITS is generally considered inadequate today. In close cooperation between the Intelligent Transport Systems department and the German Aerospace Centre in Braunschweig (Institute of Transport Systems Technology), the field of ITS is therefore being worked on in an interdisciplinary manner. Young scientists and experts from the fields of Computing Science, Psychology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics and Mathematics etc. are working together in projects to develop joint findings, artefacts and prototypes from different specialist perspectives.
The department's work focuses on
Processes and tools for holistic ITS design;
Software architectures for flexible, open and secure assistance and automation systems and their embedding in ITS;
Platforms for the standard-compliant development of ITS and ITS components;
Testing of ITS components and ITS.
