Physical Literacy and Children Enrichment (PLACE)

The PLACE(Physical Literacy and Children Enrichment) project addresses the problem that a large part of the physical activity programme for children (e.g. sports lessons, sports clubs) could not be realised in the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the help of the concept of "physical literacy", which has so far been recognised primarily in an international context, this intervention project attempts to take a holistic approach to children's motivational, cognitive-knowledge-related and physical prerequisites. The aim of the PLACE project is to develop an age-appropriate intervention concept on the topic of physical literacy (sub-goal 1), to implement the intervention concept in co-operation with Bremen schools (sub-goal 2), to evaluate the effects of the intervention concept on the physical literacy of the participating children (sub-goal 3) and, in the event of a successful evaluation, to prepare the potential dissemination of the intervention concept (dissemination, scale-up).
