Teaching concept: Kids can code
Programming as a combination of Media literacy and digitalization in primary and lower secondary school
The seminar concept aims to provide prospective teachers with insights into programming in order to
reveal this side of how digital media works. The seminar is intended to show students ways of understanding Computing Science as a creative process and integrating it into their own subject.

The seminar is accompanied by the lecture "Media literacy and digitalisation", in which theoretical basics are taught. Basic concepts of media education, media pedagogy and computer science are Computing Science are defined and differentiated from each other, basic theories in the context of learning and teaching with and about digital media. Participants are given an overview of the historical development and current trends in the field of educational technologies and an understanding of the mediatised world and the media usage behaviour of children and young people. In the seminar, a reference is made to the theory from the lecture, but the main focus is on programming as an element of Computing Science education. To this end, various programming environments for children and young people will be tested in practice and their potential use in in schools outside of Computing Science will be conceptualised, discussed and reflected upon.
