DiZ Research Academy

A good third of students at the University of Oldenburg aspire to become teachers. The University of Oldenburg is the only university in Lower Saxony to offer degree programmes for all types of schools and teaching careers. Teacher training is therefore of particular importance at the university.

The potential in the area of research in this context lies above all in the networking of the diverse
regional and supra-regional research activities as well as the increased interdisciplinary cooperation between the didactics, educational and specialised sciences. The newly established, self-financed Research Training Group "Teacher Education 2040: Dimensions of the Professionalisation of Teachers from an Interdisciplinary Perspective" at the Research Academy of the Centre for Teacher Education - Didactic Centre aims to integrate the various research perspectives.

The central location for bundling this potential is the DiZ Research Academy, which provides structural and organisational support for the interdisciplinary research projects in the focus area. The Research Academy forms an organisational structure within the DiZ for all tasks relating to research and the promotion of young researchers. It is also the place for the initiation and implementation of interdisciplinary, overarching programmes, projects and measures in research and the promotion of young researchers. To this end, the Research Academy supports scientists in the realisation of these processes.

The DiZ Research Academy is part of the OLE+ Biography-oriented and Cross-phase Teacher Education in Oldenburg project at the University of Oldenburg, which has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 1 January 2016 as part of the Teacher Education Quality Initiative.

New publication on didactic reconstruction

After a workshop on the Model of Didactic Reconstruction (MDR) was successfully held at the University of Zurich in summer 2018, it was decided to continue the exchange and involve new people. This led to a second workshop, which took place online in Oldenburg on 15 October 2021. The proceedings, edited by Prof Dr Michael Komorek and Dr Kai Bliesmer, are now available: It contains contributions that were discussed during the workshop in Oldenburg. They demonstrate the widespread use of the Didactic Reconstruction model in subject didactics: biology didactics, computer science didactics, geography didactics, political didactics and physics didactics. As exemplary applications of didactic reconstruction in the most diverse fields of research and development, they emphasise that the model is excellently suited as a subject-specific didactic approach for current educational tasks.

GINT conference proceedings published

The proceedings of the research conference "Exploring and developing places and processes of extracurricular learning", which took place at the University of Oldenburg in August 2018, have been published. At the centre of the conference was research into non-formal and extracurricular learning (both in STEM subjects and in the humanities and social sciences).

This conference continued the Lucerne University of Teacher Education's series on extracurricular learning spaces as the sixth volume and was organised this time jointly by the doctoral programme and research network "STEM Learning in Informal Spaces" (GINT) in co-operation with the Lucerne University of Teacher Education.

There was a great response to the Oldenburg conference: 140 participants from five countries, mainly Germany, Austria and Switzerland, took part. Prof. Dr Michael Komorek and Prof. Dr Peter Röben as well as the GINT programme coordinator Simona Selle were in charge of the conference. The volume has 360 pages and has been published by LIT Verlag. >> further information
