AIN successful

Audiology Initiative Lower Saxony successfully evaluated

On 18 August 2009, the Audiology Initiative Lower Saxony (AIN) was evaluated in detail by the scientific advisory board and the Lower Saxony Innovation Centre after three years. Since 2006, this project has formed the basis for what is now a comprehensive collaboration between
the two hearing research locations in Hanover (Hanover Medical School, Hanover Hearing Centre) and Oldenburg (University of Oldenburg, Jade University of Applied Sciences, Oldenburg Hearing Centre and
HörTech). The task of the evaluation was to determine the status and decide
on the continuation of the funding for a further two years.

The hearing researchers presented the current project results as well as numerous products that have found their way onto the market as part of the translation. These range from the "Oldenburg measurement programmes" and development platforms for hearing aids and cochlear implants to simulators for the hearing impaired. The Scientific Advisory Board concluded that "the AIN has had clear and positive successes. Perhaps the most important of these is the achievement of a well-founded, convincing and fruitful co-operation between the participating institutions at the MHH and the University of Oldenburg. The collaboration complements each other professionally and culturally, which has led to clear synergetic and profitable results for both institutions."
The Lower Saxony Innovation Centre also confirmed to the AIN: "The AIN's work to date is a very successful example of establishing an economically successful technology transfer with close links to the respective research content and results."
Everyone involved in the AIN was delighted with this great success and the continuation of the project.
"We will consistently continue along the path we have taken and expand our joint research activities even further," assures Prof Dr Dr Birger Kollmeier, spokesperson for the AIN.
