Excellent hearing test by telephone
"Simple and ingenious" - hearing test by telephone honoured in the "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" innovation competition
At the weekend, hundreds of people from Oldenburg and the surrounding area experienced the listening rally in the dream gardens in Oldenburg city centre in beautiful weather. The Haus des Hörens's audio researchers created a very unusual soundscape. For example, a lion suddenly roared from the bushes, whale songs and water bubbling made the visitors sit up and take notice. For once, many visitors turned their attention to listening in order to interpret the sounds correctly. Elisabeth and Dietrich Hillmann heard well right to the finish line. They won a cookery course from AOK and the winners of the numerous headphones sponsored by Sennheiser were also very satisfied. At the closing event on Sunday, there was something very special to listen to, especially for the little ears: The rock musician Markus Rohde played funny and lively songs from his programme "Pirates, Waves and Spinach" - at an appropriate volume, of course. HörTech gGmbH from The Haus des Hörens in Oldenburg used the hearing rally to celebrate the award for the telephone hearing test, which was named a "Selected Landmark 2010" in the nationwide innovation competition "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" on Sunday 15 August. This makes the telephone hearing test part of the largest series of events in Germany, which is now in its fifth year and is organised by the location initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas" and Deutsche Bank under the patronage of the Federal President. The test offers a simple, anonymous and non-binding opportunity to check the condition of your own hearing. With varying background volume, the participant is asked by a voice to press certain numbers on the telephone keypad. At the award ceremony on 15 August at The Haus des Hörens, Doris Bünnemeyer from Deutsche Bank in Oldenburg emphasised: "Since its introduction, almost 40,000 people in German have already checked their hearing with the 'hearing test by phone'. This simple and ingenious idea can detect hearing problems in many people at an early stage and sensitise the population to the issue of hearing loss." Stephan Albani, Managing Director of HörTech gGmbH, commented on the award: "We are very proud to be a 'Selected Landmark' in the Land of Ideas for the third time with an innovation from The Haus des Hörens. The innovation competition offers the opportunity to place innovations that are important for our society at the centre of public attention - including our hearing test by telephone, which helps to ensure that hearing problems are detected quickly, easily and, above all, in good time."
