It's hardly worth mentioning: On 6 November 1993, Dr Birger Kollmeier began his work as a university assistant at the III Institute of Physics at the University of Göttingen - and almost exactly 25 years later, his anniversary was reason enough to look back on the rapid developments under his leadership at the University of Oldenburg in a small ceremony. Not only have a number of successfully founded institutions and companies lined his path (including the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Oldenburg, Hörzentrum Oldenburg, the degree programme Hörtechnik&Audiologie, HörTech Center of Competence, the International Research Training Group Neurosensorics, the Fraunhofer Project Group Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology, etc.), but the growing number of university graduates he has supervised includes 44 doctoral students to date. To celebrate the day, the Department of Medical Physics presented the jubilarian with a very special gift: a chain of office composed of 44 doctoral hats in miniature format - with the initials and year of the doctoral examinations passed.
