In order to promote young researchers, the European Acoustics Association (EAA) presented a total of six "Best Paper and Presentation Awards", each worth €500, at the international AIA-DAGA conference in Merano, Italy, in March.

Two of the coveted prizes went to researchers from Oldenburg this year:

• Tobias Neher won with the paper "Listening and Understanding Speech in a Cafeteria: Effects of Binaural Noise Reduction, Hearing Loss and Cognitive Function"
• Carolin Iben received the prize for the paper "Extension and Evaluation of a Signal Processing and Perception Model".
