Individual tuition in an instrument or singing takes place throughout almost the entire course of study. A distinctive feature of this is the great freedom of choice: students at the Institute of Music can choose lessons according to their strengths and needs; they can continue with what they are familiar with or take up something new, depending on their course of study and academic goals.

Alongside one-to-one tuition, the many small and large ensembles play a key role in instrumental and vocal practice. Here, students work on artistic and musical projects that span different styles, genres and disciplines; these projects have an impact far beyond the university campus and help shape the cultural life of the city and the Oldenburg region.
