In this area, interdisciplinary theatre projects with music are regularly carried out at the university and beyond. Students gain their own stage experience and take on responsibility in areas such as dramaturgy, directing, rehearsing music and singing and choreography, composition, arrangements, designing the programme booklet and advertising. Interdisciplinary collaboration with other subjects in the School serves as a model for later professional practice. Theatre performance at the university also serves as a field of experimentation for non-commercial forms of theatre. The university thus presents itself to the outside world and contributes to the cultural life of the region.

School theatre with music is an integral part of a good school. Linguistic and musical skills are trained in an interdisciplinary and holistic way. Through drama, music and dance, pupils expand their repertoire of means of expression and also acquire skills that are considered key qualifications for later life, such as memory training, confidence in performing, physical training/presence, co-operation and communication skills. The theatre projects help pupils to identify with their school.

School music teachers play a central role in the implementation of theatre projects with music. They must be prepared for this role in their training.

In the second area of the profile specialisation, students acquire the relevant qualifications. Theatre projects with music are carried out in cooperation between the Institute of Music and schools of all types. The students take on the management of the above-mentioned sub-areas under the guidance of the lecturer and a participating teacher. Larger-scale institutional co-operations are also initiated.
