The team from the Psychosocial Counselling Centre (PSB) will take a look into the psyche of students over the past 40 years in the public lecture "40 Years of the Student Soul". The event will take place on Tuesday, 6 May at 6 p.m. in The Smart House Oldenburg (Schlossplatz 16) and is part of the "40 Years of the University of Oldenburg" programme.
In four decades, the academic zeitgeist, the culture of encounter at the university and, not least, the mentality of the students have changed considerably. Keywords here include generational relationships, globalisation processes and the economisation of living together. How contemporary history has taken place behind the soundproof doors of the counselling rooms will be presented and discussed in this event - including a staged play. "For the psychological counselling of students, it is a constant challenge to recognise 'problem trends' at an early stage and to deal with them flexibly," explains Wilfried Schumann, Head of the PSB, who will moderate the evening. In the past, students in higher semesters were more likely to seek advice in their socially critical search for meaning; today, on the other hand, the next generation is at the door, driven early on in their studies by the desire to improve their performance, success and career, says Schumann.
