All KinderUni fans who have just landed back at school can take off again on Wednesday, 7 September: That's when the KinderUniversität autumn semester kicks off with the lecture "Really taken off - The path to today's aircraft".
The departure terminal is the lecture theatre centre (A14) on the Haarentor campus. Pilot Prof Dr Peter Röben, head of the Technical Education working group at the Institute of Physics, will ensure a safe take-off, an exciting flight through the history of aircraft development and a soft landing in the Audimax.
The programme continues on Wednesday, 14 September, with an excursion into the digital world. Under the motto "See and be seen - on the go in WhatsApp & Co.", Prof Dr Olaf Zawacki-Richter from the Institute of Educational Sciences will take the children online.
In the third and final lecture of the autumn semester on 21 September, the KinderUni students will become environmental detectives. Together with hydrogeologist Prof Dr Gudrun Massmann from the Institute of Biology and Environmental Sciences, they will track down a secret treasure when the topic is "Well hidden and vital - groundwater".
The lectures start at 4.30 pm. Admission to the lecture theatre centre (A14) on the Haarentor campus is from 4.00 pm. Tickets (2.50 euros) for the three autumn lectures are available at www.kinderuni-oldenburg.de and at the offices of the Nordwest-Zeitung and all advance booking offices of Nordwest Ticket GmbH. Adults do not need an admission ticket - they are not allowed in the lecture theatre. They can follow the lectures on a screen in the foyer of the lecture theatre centre.
The KinderUniversität project would not be possible without the commitment of the sponsors. This year's main sponsor is once again the Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg (LzO). The project also receives considerable support from the Oldenburg Employers' Association, the EWE Foundation and the business association "Der Kleine Kreis e.V.". The media partners Nordwest-Zeitung, NDR 1 Niedersachsen and Radio Bremen Vier also make a major contribution to the success of the KinderUniversität.
