The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) has granted planning permission for the University of Oldenburg’s new Student Service Centre (SSC).
The costs amount to 4.34 million euros, the majority of which will be covered by the MWK. The university is contributing 200,000 euros towards the centre’s fitting-out costs.
Construction work on the three-storey building complex is set to begin on the Haarentor campus before the end of this year. Spanning around 1,100 square metres and situated in the immediate vicinity of the A14 lecture theatre complex, the new SSC will house all student advisory services: the Examinations Office, the Career Service, the International Student Office, the Admissions office and the Central Study Counselling Service. The Studentenwerk’s social, disability, financial and accommodation advisory services will also move into the building – as will the Psychosocial Counselling Centre, which is a joint initiative of the university and the Studentenwerk.
The opening of the SSC is planned for next year.
