Once again, the New Year's reception of the University and the University Society on 22 January 2015 at the Oldenburg State Theatre delivered what it promises year after year: a cultural and communication event that is unparalleled in the region. General Director Christian Firmbach as host, acting University President Prof Dr Katharina Al-Shamery, Lord Mayor Jürgen Krogmann and UGO Chairman Michael Wefers welcomed around 600 guests on Thursday evening. The reception in the foyer was followed by a performance by the ballet company based on compositions by Andrei Jakowlewitsch Eschpai and Georges Bizet, which was received with great applause in the packed theatre. The "chat afterwards" kept many guests from science, business, politics, culture and administration in the theatre foyer until midnight. --- Photos from the New Year's reception
