Attention young researchers: On Wednesday, 1 October, be sure to bring a torch! That's when the KinderUni Oldenburg will be holding "Light Painting - Music Illuminated", and the Audimax in the lecture theatre centre will be pitch dark at times.
It has to be, because this is the only way that music teacher Prof Dr Lars Oberhaus can paint with light with the eight to twelve-year-old KinderUni students and prove that you can not only hear music, but also see it. In addition to torches, other light sources will also be used, but more is yet to be revealed. In any case, Oldenburg walkers should not be surprised if they see music behind dark nursery windows on lecture evenings. A KinderUni student certainly lives here!
Tickets (2 euros) for the autumn semester lectures are available online via Nordwest Ticket GmbH (www.nordwest-ticket.de) and at the offices of the Nordwest-Zeitung. The lecture begins at 4.30 pm, admission to the lecture theatre centre (building A14) is from 4.00 pm. Adults do not need an admission ticket - they are not allowed in the lecture theatre, but can follow the lectures on a screen in the foyer of the lecture theatre centre. The Malteser Hilfsdienst will provide security on site.
If you would like to familiarise yourself with the topic of the lecture now, you can do so in the children's library at the PFL and all Oldenburg district libraries. Special book tables have been set up here.
The media partners of the KinderUniversität Oldenburg are the Nordwest-Zeitung, NDR 1 Niedersachsen and Radio Bremen Vier. The project is supported by Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg (LzO) as well as Nordmetall, the business association "Der Kleine Kreis e.V." and "Junge Öffentliche".
