Uni on the move - Health Week 2015

How can we integrate more exercise into our everyday lives? - This question is the focus of the Health Week, which is taking place at the university for the first time from 29 June to 3 July. The motto is "Uni moves".

How can we integrate more exercise into our everyday lives? - This question is the focus of the Health Week, which is taking place at the university for the first time from 29 June to 3 July. The motto is "Uni moves".

The Health Week is a further development of the university's annual Health Day. "When designing the programme, we attached great importance to ensuring that employees and students can implement many fitness tips directly at their desks and increase their exercise in everyday life with little effort," explains Alexandra Baumkötter, Coordinator of Health Management at the university.

For one week, university employees have the opportunity to choose from a variety of workshops. The programme includes QiGong as a regeneration technique, proper eye training for computer work and "Brain-Gym - gymnastics for the head". During the "Moving Break" or in the "Moving" workshop, participants learn effective movement exercises that they can implement directly at their desks. In lectures, sports scientist Dr Tobias Kaeding, for example, will explain the first steps to successful running training and Maike Wagenaar (Techniker Krankenkasse) will answer the question "How do I overcome my inner couch potato?"

On Wednesday 1 July, the health market will also take place in the Mensa foyer from 10:00 to 15:00. There, visitors can test their balance and mobility, receive ergonomics advice or sample healthy smoothies.

The university sports centre will also be opening its facilities during the health week. Staff and students will have the opportunity to try out aquarobics, Latin rhythm dance and capoeira or play volleyball and basketball.
