University awards 67 Germany Scholarships

Every year for the past nine years, the university has supported high-achieving and committed young people with a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship with the help of private donors. Students and sponsors came together at a ceremony in the castle.

A total of 67 particularly talented and committed students are receiving a Deutschlandstipendium from the University of Oldenburg this academic year. The scholarship amounts to 300 euros per month and lasts for one year. Half of the sum comes from the federal government, while the university has raised the other half from private donors. The university was able to slightly increase the number of scholarships compared to the previous year.

"Anyone who supports a scholarship holder not only gets the good feeling of doing something worthwhile, but also the opportunity to get to know the scholarship holders personally. This personal exchange is what makes the Deutschlandstipendium so special and enriching for everyone involved," said Prof Dr Sabine Kyora, Vice President for Studies, Teaching and Gender Equality, at the official presentation of the certificates to the scholarship holders. She thanked this year's sponsors, whose financial commitment had made the awarding of the scholarships possible in the first place.

This year's scholarship holders include 43 women. A good half of all scholarship holders are first-time graduates, and a large proportion of them are volunteers. Most of the funding went to students from Faculty II Computing Science, Economics and Law, followed by Faculty V - School of Mathematics and Science. Many sponsors specifically support students from certain disciplines.
