The most important basis for your degree programme is the Bachelor's examination regulations. You can find these online on the pages of the Examinations Office under the relevant degree and degree programme, as well as in your personal Stud.IP account under Studies > My courses > Overview of study modules at the bottom of the left-hand column.

In general, the examination regulations or subject-specific annex of your degree programme valid at the start of your studies apply to you.

The regulations for the Bachelor's thesis can be found in § 21 ff. of the Bachelor's examination regulations (BPO).

The Bachelor's thesis can be registered for at any time, but the prerequisite is the achievement of at least 120 credit points and, if applicable, the fulfilment of special requirements (e.g. proof of language skills, etc.).

Admission to the Bachelor's thesis is applied for at the Examinations Office using only the application form (pdf-download on the website of the Examinations Office https://uol.de/studium/pruefungen/abschlussarbeiten). As part of the paperless procedure, the proposal may currently be submitted by email (as of 2021).

Certain preparations are necessary to submit the proposal. You may have to decide in which subject/focus the thesis is to be written and whether it is to be written as group or individual work. The idea for a topic for the thesis and the question of who you want to be examined by are of central importance. You need to make a choice and get in contact with these people.

You will need a first and a second reviewer (at least one of whom must be a member of the professors' group (Prof., apl. Prof., PD.) and obtain their (verbal) consent to act as a reviewer. You will receive this when the proposed topic has been accepted and is deemed to have been approved upon signature. You also enter this agreed proposal in the form.

Please note §22 Para. 1 BPO: "The Bachelor's thesis should show that the student is able to work independently on a problem from one of the chosen subjects using scientific methods within a given deadline".
You may only begin writing the Bachelor's thesis after admission has been granted .

A maximum period of 4 months is allowed for the completion of the Bachelor's thesis after the topic has been issued. The workload should not exceed 12 CP

We recommend 40-60 pages (approx. 1500 characters/page, font size e.g. Times New Roman 12 pt or Arial 11 pt, 1 ½ line spacing).
