Study natural sciences on trial
On Thursday and Friday, 4 and 5 June 2009, pupils in years 12 and 13 will be able to try out a scientific subject as part of the Studier! days on the Wechloy campus of the University of Oldenburg. The organisers, the School V - School of Mathematics and Science and the University's Didactic Centre (diz), are expecting around 120 people interested in science. The trial study programme is sponsored by the EWE Foundation.
The aim of the programme is to make it easier for students to decide on a subject and to give them an initial insight into everyday life as a student. Students on trial can choose between the subjects of physics, maths and chemistry. Lectures and laboratory practicals take centre stage on the first day of the event. Student life will not be neglected either: the canteen and university sports will present their programmes. On the second day, students can also attend the University Information Day (HIT) events and find out about other degree programmes and subjects as well as interdisciplinary topics such as career goals, application procedures, Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes and student finance. During the two days, the pupils are intensively supervised in small groups by students from the School.
To ensure that students from the surrounding area can also take part, the university will grant an accommodation allowance of 30 euros on proposal. Registrations until 25 May on the Internet: www.diz.uni-oldenburg.de/40189.html or by phone: 0441/798-3628.
