Information and workshops at Husum Wind

Oldenburg/Husum, 14 September 2012.

The world's first offshore wind study programme starts on 10 October 2012 and there are still a few places available for the part-time study programme. At HUSUM WindEnergy, the most important international trade fair event for the wind energy sector, from 18 to 22 September, there will be an opportunity to find out about this and other courses on offer.

The offshore wind study programme offers current and future employees in offshore wind energy a unique range of courses. It is the first part-time study programme specifically tailored to the offshore wind energy sector. It provides specialised knowledge, management skills and enables qualified exchange with experts in the industry.

As part of its presence at the trade fair, ForWind, the centre for wind energy research at the universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, will be offering the opportunity to find out more about the offshore wind study programme at HUSUM WindEnergy.

In co-operation with Messe Husum, Forwind is also organising two workshops on qualifications for the wind industry: On Tuesday, 18 September 2012 from 14:00 to 16:45, there will be a workshop on European study opportunities. The European wind energy industry is in urgent need of excellent specialists, but at the same time there are only a few defined and generally established qualification programmes for wind energy. The workshop aims to bring together the requirements of tomorrow's specialists with the leading English-language study programmes.

Forwind is organising another event on Saturday, 22 September as part of windcareer, the job fair at HUSUM WindEnergy. The workshop "Qualification in the wind energy sector" will provide information on entry-level and job prospects. HR managers from companies will present job profiles and job requirements, and experts will provide the latest information on industry-specific training and further education.

ForWind is the centre for wind energy research at the universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen. In its research, ForWind covers a broad spectrum of engineering and physical sciences and provides scientific support for industrially orientated projects. ForWind is involved in the further education of subjects and managers, organises public lecture series, seminars and workshops and ensures the transfer of knowledge to industry, politics and the public.

The Wind Energy Agency WAB is the leading business network for wind energy in the north-west region and the nationwide contact for the offshore wind energy sector in Germany. More than 350 companies and institutes from all areas of the wind energy industry, the maritime industry and research belong to the association.

The city of Oldenburg is heavily involved in the field of renewable energies. Oldenburg focuses on the three "E's": energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable energies and promotes technology transfer in this area as well as corresponding projects.
