Review of the Teaching and Learning Day on 28 November 2019

How do other degree programmes actually teach and learn? What impulses for teaching and learning can be exciting? The third Teaching and Learning Day took place on 28 November 2019. Once again, there was the opportunity to address these and many other questions centred on teaching and learning at the University of Oldenburg.

Firstly, the Faculties II - Computing Science, Economics and Law and VI - Medicine and Health Sciences invited visitors to spend the morning getting to know teaching and learning in the two faculties. The programme included open lectures, hands-on activities and the format "For a coffee with..." in the Mensa foyer, which encouraged mutual exchange.

With the opening and the lecture "Why mindfulness at universities?" (Prof. Dr Mike Sandbothe, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences, Jena), the university-wide afternoon programme kicked off. The lecture was followed by a panel discussion entitled "Mindfulness - hype or hope?". The discussion centred on the impetus that mindfulness can provide for teaching and learning. The topic was rounded off with the workshop "The healing power of mindfulness".

Parallel to the programme in the BIS hall, there were also a number of workshops and lectures from various university institutions that invited participants to listen and take part. In the evening, the traditional "Preis der Lehre" award ceremony took place, followed by a reception in the BIS Hall. The a cappella band Foxy set the mood.

At TdLL 2019, there was also another opportunity to discuss teaching and learning via Twitter throughout the day.

Impressions of the first and second day of teaching and learning can be found here.
