Professionalisation programme "Jewish Studies" and "Transcultural Interreligious Studies" (TIS)
Since the 2022/23 winter semester, the UOL has offered the professional development programme “Transcultural Interreligious Studies”. Transcultural and interreligious skills are becoming increasingly relevant across all areas of society. Teachers, in particular, face the dual challenge of acting with sensitivity and nuance within culturally and religiously diverse learning groups, whilst at the same time guiding students towards transcultural and interreligious learning.
The ‘Transcultural Interreligious Studies’ professional development programme, run by School IV - School of Humanities and Social Sciences, addresses these current social issues and needs, offering students from all disciplines the opportunity to acquire, through two or three modules of 6 CP each, a basic understanding of Jewish, Christian and/or Islamic religion and culture, as well as in interreligious education, and to develop their transcultural and interreligious skills.
The “Jewish Studies” professional development programme has been continued as part of the broader “Transcultural Interreligious Studies” professional development programme since the winter–spring semester 2020/21.
