FAQ - Questions about specific work steps
Contact details
Why do the wrong contact details appear in the side column?
The contact details are automatically passed on to subordinate pages if they are in the "top left" area. Contact data on the institute homepage is therefore inherited by subordinate departments - unless more specific contact data is entered there.
For the departments, this means that they must also place a "Contact" element in the "top left" area on the department homepage so that the department contact data appears there - and on subordinate pages.
How do I place contact data correctly?
Basics
- If possible, contact details of university members should not be typed in manually, but retrieved from Stud.IP. This way, they are automatically updated on the website when they are changed in Stud.IP.
Position of contact details
- The technical contact details (e.g. phone, email, room, office hours, address) have their place at the top of the page column. This makes them easily visible and accessible on both large screens and smartphones.
- On the other hand, there is profile information (personal photo, work focus, CV, courses, publications) that does not belong in the side column, but in the main content of the page.
- Deviating from these basic rules, in certain cases, e.g. on a team overview page, such personal contact data can also be included in the main content. However, this is the exception.
How can I increase the spacing of the points within a list?
You can assign the "List expanded" style to the list to create spacing between the list items.
- First place the cursor somewhere in the list.
- In the Editor module, click on the "ul" (or "ol" in the case of a numbered list) at the bottom of the path line
- Click in the style menu at the top -> "Expanded list (UL)".
How can I create a clickable button?
A button is nothing more than a normal hyperlink that is visually pimped up.
- Create a new text paragraph in a Text&Media element
- Enter the text you want to appear on the button
- Select the text with the mouse and link it to the desired target page using the chain link symbol
- Once the link has been created, place the cursor within the clickable text and then select one of the button variants from the "Style" menu at the top.
