In basic and application-oriented research, the working group is concerned with the dynamics of populations, species and habitats in today's cultural landscapes and the possibilities for their conservation and restoration (conservation biology, restoration ecology). The following research topics are currently in the foreground:

• Habitat connectivity of grasslands
• Biodiversity of moor grassland
• Renaturalisation of raised bogs
• Dispersal behaviour, population dynamics and mixing of selected dragonfly species
