Series of lectures

Series of lectures "Shaping the future"

of the MWK doctoral programme of the same name in co-operation with the academic centre "Genealogy of the Present"

The digital transformation is fuelling utopias and dystopias. For some, it represents a decisive evolutionary step on the path to emancipating people from their natural shackles. For others, it is hollowing out entire cultures, destroying industries, the democratic public sphere and privacy and turning millions of people into media addicts. Such euphoric and sceptical expectations of the future are condensed in various social and cultural areas - literature, science, politics, popular culture, etc. - into sensual and sensuous figures of a digital future that already determine action in the here and now. Against this background, the series of lectures deals with topics such as digital humanities and digital capitalism, develops sociological perspectives on ideas of the future and reflects on the current discourse on digitalisation from the perspective of philosophical criticism.

Lectures

The lectures take place online on Thursdays at 6.15 pm.

Access to the video conference (Cisco Webex) can then be found here on this page.
