Helena Esther Grass / Stefan Müller-Doohm (eds.): Adorno's Minima Moralia. Poetik und Philosophie, Zeitschrift für Ästhetik und Allgemeine Kunstwissenschaft (ZÄK) Sonderheft 25. 2024
Around 70 years ago, Theodor W. Adorno published his collection of aphorisms under the title "Minima Moralia": these "Reflections from a Damaged Life" are his most successful and most personal book.
In it, he not only articulates his experiences of displacement by the Nazi dictatorship and the years of exile, but also uses his epigrammatic texts to rescue remnants of truth from the flow of catastrophic times in a secular age of deception, propaganda and continued violence - nothing could be more topical in view of the current threat of backsliding behind the civilisational achievements of the Enlightenment.
The editors and authors - including Anne Eusterschulte, Petra Gehring, Josef Früchtl, Viet Anh Hguyen Duc, Martin Mittelmeier, Ralf Konersmann, Stefan Niklas, Detlev Schöttker, Martin Seel, Johann Kreuzer, Ferdinand Zehntreiter - share the conviction that Adorno developed a special form of language with his aphorisms: an expressive-aesthetic mode of expression, the cognitive quality of which is the subject of this volume from a controversial perspective.
