Identifiers for persons and data
Identifiers for persons and data
The following methods have been established in science to ensure the clear assignment of researchers, the objects of research and their results:
GND standardised data
Standardised data is primarily used to clearly identify persons, corporate bodies, congresses, subject terms and geographical designations. A collection of such data is called a "authority file". The Standardisation data service of the BIS helps you to identify the objects of your research by entering them in the Common Authority File (GND) so that they can be clearly referenced.
In addition to being used by the libraries themselves, the GND is endeavouring to extend its circle of users to partners in science and culture. For example, the German-language version of Wikipedia uses the GND to uniquely reference entities. The use of the GND by text and data repositories is also steadily increasing.
The affiliation guideline of the University of Oldenburg
Institutions benefit from the uniqueness of their own designation. This is why the University of Oldenburg has issued an affiliation guideline. All members of the university are obliged to adhere to the rules laid down there for the designation of the university.
Author IDs / ORCID
Unique identification is importantforresearchers, e.g. to be able to name a clear and easily traceable relationship between themselves as a person and their own research data and results. ORCID in particular has established itself as an interdisciplinary, institution-independent service; its use is also recommended in the Oldenburg Affiliation Guidelines.
