Governance and higher education law
Acting with legal certainty in the academic world
Legal, political, scientific and economic framework conditions must be taken into account in research, teaching and transfer at universities. The module focuses on the one hand on higher education law and external governance. On the other hand, internal law and internal governance are dealt with. The focus is on mechanisms, instruments and concrete implementation. Non-lawyers in particular will be shown ways to navigate the higher education sector with legal certainty. The module also takes into account compliance management, which includes adherence to the law and to the university's own guidelines, standards and rules. The advantages of pluralistic governance strategies are discussed, as is the New Public Management approach. The role of rule violations, unwritten laws and informal processes is also examined.
