Two sample heads are available for this NMR spectrometer. The Supercool sample head is fitted as standard.

Equipment: ¹H/¹⁹F coil
X coil

  • ¹H and ¹⁹F are located on one coil:
  • Hetero-cores (X) can be measured¹H-decoupled OR ¹⁹F-decoupled.
  • ¹H hetero-core 2D measurements are possible. (e.g.¹H¹³C HMQC)
  • ¹⁹F Hetero-core 2D measurements are possible. (e.g. ¹⁹F¹³C HMQC)
  • ¹⁹F can NOT be measured ¹H-decoupled.
  • ¹H can NOT be measured ¹⁹F decoupled.

The Supercool probe head is cooled down to approx. -196°C with liquid nitrogen. This reduces the noise caused by the electronics. This electronic noise is temperature-dependent. This improves sensitivity and reduces measurement time. The reduction in measuring time depends on the core and the experiment. The sample chamber remains at room temperature or the desired measuring temperature.

Temperature experiments are possible from room temperature to +150°C. Care must be taken to select a suitable solvent.

Equipment: ¹H/¹⁹F coil with DUAL MODE
X coil

This sample head is equipped with an additional dual tune mode for 1H and 19F. Although the two cores are on one coil, they can be measured simultaneously. I.e.

  • ¹H can be measured ¹⁹F decoupled AND vice versa.
  • Hetero-cores can be measured simultaneously ¹H- and ¹⁹F-decoupled or either only ¹H-decoupled or only ¹⁹F-decoupled.
  • ¹⁹F hetero-core 2D measurements are possible (e.g. ¹⁹F¹³C HMQC) with or without additional 1H decoupling.
    ¹H Hetero-core 2D measurements are possible (e.g. ¹H¹³C HMQC) with or without additional 19F decoupling.

Temperature experiments are possible from -100°C to +150°C. Care must be taken to select a suitable solvent.
