WP 6.1 Economic valuation of land management scenarios
WP 6.1 deals with the economic valuation of different land management measures in German coastal regions and the accompanying changes in the availability of ecosystem services. In regard to possible negative effects of climate change it has to be analysed whether adaptation policy measures by government like the construction of additional dikes and changed forms of land use are beneficial in the sense of increasing social welfare. Using the Contingent Valuation Method and Choice Experiments the social benefits accruing from different land use scenarios will be assessed in monetary terms. As a money measure of the benefits accruing from a certain land use project, the willingness to pay of the affected population for the realization of that project will be used. The social benefits generated by a specific project can be contrasted with the cost it causes in order to determine its social profitability.
