Dear students,
Below you will find information on the subject-specific didactic components of your BA and MA degree programme with the career goal of becoming a teacher. As you will see, the proportion of courses that are specifically related to didactic issues is relatively small compared to the scope of your entire degree programme. It therefore makes sense to select your courses as specifically as possible right from the start.
First of all, you should be aware that the specialised discipline of German studies is subdivided or structured differently to the didactic discipline or the content of German teaching itself. One categorisation of German studies sub-disciplines that you are probably already familiar with is the distinction between linguistics and literary studies. This is sometimes distinguished from medieval studies, which refers to both literary and linguistic aspects of the older language stages of German.
A further subdivision of the discipline of German studies is possible if a historically orientated approach is distinguished from a more systematically orientated one.
Note: Terminologically correct, however, is that synchronous approaches can (or even must) be taken at different diachronic stages.
