The Low German specialisation in German Studies at the University of Oldenburg is a member of the inter-university teaching network "Teaching Low German" (LeNie). The network was set up on the initiative of PD Dr Birte Arendt from the University of Greifswald and Prof Dr Andreas Bieberstedt from the University of Rostock. Its aim is to offer students of Low German interesting courses in the field of linguistics, literature and didactics beyond the curriculum at the member universities and to use innovative forms of university teaching.
