Certificate Low German

Within the German studies programme, students can choose to specialise in Low German. Upon successful completion, the credits earned here are confirmed with the Certificate in Low German, which can be taken into account as a recognised additional qualification relevant to academic appointments, for example in the teaching profession.

The requirements for obtaining the Certificate in Low German depend on the degree programme and the examination regulations. All specialised credits to be completed are integral components of the regular German studies programme, so they do not generally represent additional credits but rather a specialisation. The practical language component can also be integrated into the regular course of study for some degree programmes as follows:

  • in the extracurricular PB area of the two-subject Bachelor's degree programme in German Studies
  • in the PB area of Teaching Qualification in Social Pedagogy of the two-subject Bachelor's degree programme in German Studies (as the one compulsory elective module from the extracurricular area of specialisation)
  • in the master's degree programme School III, area of specialisation (can be taken in module ipb611 - free module)

In the dual-subject Bachelor's programmes in German Studies (with a school career goal other than Special Education), M. Ed. German Gymnasium, M. Ed. German Special Education, M. Ed. German Business Education, the language practice courses in Low German can only be studied as additional work.
