cumulative course result sheet
The cumulative course result sheets serve to prove that you have attended classes in a particular module. At the same time, they also help you keep track of which assessment tasks you still need to complete, what you have already completed, and what grades you have received for each task (provided these are entered on the cumulative course result sheet). To do this, submit the cumulative course result sheet for the relevant module – in which you have attended a specific course or wish to have it credited – to the relevant lecturer for their signature. Once a cumulative course result sheet is complete, send it to the module coordinator listed below so that the module can be credited to you.
It is a good idea to always make a copy of your cumulative course result sheets (especially during face-to-face teaching), as they can sometimes get lost but are an important piece of evidence for you.
Module certificates
Module certificates are required for individual examinations. If you are registered for an examination via Stud-IP, you do not need to attach any module certificates to your examination results. However, if this is not possible for a particular course, or if you have made individual arrangements with the lecturer, you will need a module certificate (the traditional method), on which your marking is recorded and which is then sent to the Examinations Office for credit.
To do this, you must complete the module certificate carefully and in full in the section marked for students before the exam and submit it along with your exam paper.
The module certificate can be used for any type of examination if you have not registered online or if online registration was not possible.
If in doubt, ask the lecturer supervising your examination whether you need to submit a module certificate.
When and how do I get my grades? Where can I see what has already been recognised?
According to the general section of the examination regulations, marking must be carried out within 5 weeks of submission and should also be forwarded to the Examinations Office within this period. It may happen that the marking and assessment take longer. In this case, you should contact the relevant lecturer to enquire. If you need a grade urgently (e.g. for enrolment, BAföG or similar), you will usually receive it in good time upon request. Please contact the relevant lecturer in this regard as well.
Grades are usually published directly via Stud-IP and can be viewed under Studies --> My Exams --> My Grades. When a new grade is entered, you will usually receive an email notifying you that a new grade has been entered, and you can then check it.
You can view all recognised credits and partial credits at any time under Studies --> My Exams --> My Grades.
If a grade that should already have been entered does not appear in Stud-IP, please first contact the person who entered the grade (the module coordinator) or, if in doubt, contact the Examinations Office directly if the module coordinators are unable to help you.
Written papers and exams
Where can I find guidelines and information on academic work?
You can find guidelines, information, formalities and more here.
Where can I submit my examination results?
There are generally two ways of doing this: if an assessment (seminar paper, written assignment, dissertation, etc.) is to be submitted in person, it can either be placed in the relevant lecturer’s pigeonhole or in the university’s general deadline postbox. The following applies to each option:
Submission to the lecturer’s office for the subject:
Only if this has been agreed with the lecturer! As a rule, there is no receipt stamp, and meeting the deadline is not guaranteed in this case.
The lecturers’ subjects are located in Building A10, in the ground-floor corridor, directly opposite the Institute’s secretariat. You can find a map here.
Submission to the deadline postbox to meet the deadline:
This postbox, which can be used for all documents requiring a receipt stamp, is located at the entrance to the V01 administration building at Ammerländer Heerstraße 114–118; you can find it on the map here.
Please remember to place your documents in an envelope before posting them and to include the name of the person to whom the documents are addressed in the address details.
How do I find a topic and a supervisor for my thesis?
On the Bachelor’s degree programme in Art and Media, if you wish to write your Bachelor’s thesis in Art and Media, you must attend what is known as a Bachelor’s thesis seminar. This module will help you both to choose a topic and to find a suitable supervisor.
Alternatively, it is always possible (and recommended) to choose topics from courses you have attended – which may already have been explored in depth in a seminar paper or similar assignment – and to make a selection of the lecturer for that course as your supervisor in that subject area. Nevertheless, attendance at a seminar remains compulsory.
Management of studies and course of study
Which modules do I have to take in which semester?
As a rule, you are free to choose when to take a module. However, there are recommendations and a sequence that must be followed. You can find this information in the current study programme plan for your subject. You can find the plans and regulations for your degree programme by clicking on the following buttons.

How does event registration work? When do events become visible and when can I select them?
You can find the overview of the courses of the respective semester in the respective modules in Stud-IP under: Studies --> My courses --> Overview of study modules (in the bar on the left). Under "Views" you can select your subject and then the relevant semester (the correct semester is usually preselected).
Once you have decided on a course, select it and click on "Access to course" on the left. If you have chosen the right time, you will then be enrolled in the course or placed on the waiting list.
As a rule, the courses for the following semester are made visible in the month before the semester starts. Registration then takes place a little later on the dates specified below in the courses. It is worth keeping the registration date free and clicking exactly when the course is activated for registration, as the demand for some courses is very high. Important: The internal Stud-IP time (displayed to the second in the top right-hand corner of Stud-IP) counts and not that of your laptop, mobile phone or wristwatch.
Excursions
What are excursions?
Excursions are visits to museums and exhibitions or other places relevant to the course content that are located outside Oldenburg. Excursions are offered in the courses. Self-organised excursions are also possible.
For 60KP students, 4 excursion days must be demonstrated.
For 30KP students, 2 excursion days must be demonstrated.
Self-organised excursions
Excursions are thematically linked to courses; this also applies to self-organised excursions, which must be agreed in advance with a lecturer.
The excursion location must be outside of Oldenburg.
Cases of hardship must be clarified with the responsible lecturer and, if necessary, subsequently with the student advisory service.
Excursion report
In order to receive an excursion certificate, an excursion report must be prepared. As a rule, this should be 1-2 pages per excursion day in the Bachelor's programme and 2-3 pages per excursion day in the Master's programme. Other formats than a written excursion report can be agreed in consultation with the lecturer conducting the excursion.
Excursion certificate
In order to receive an excursion certificate, it is necessary to register for an excursion day with the relevant lecturer in the digital examination administration via StudIP. After submitting the excursion report, participation is confirmed here. The excursion certificate is not graded.
Entrance examination
When and how will I receive the results of the entrance examination?
