Collegial observation
Collegial observation
Growing through collegial feedback
The idea of "peer observation": Teachers visit each other in their courses and then exchange ideas in a structured, peer-to-peer discussion. You decide in advance which aspects of your teaching you would like to focus on: Perhaps you would like to try out a new method? Would you like to improve your presentation style? Or would you like more activity from the students? On the other hand, you can train your perception as an observer and practise in a counselling situation. You can implement "peer observation" in a group of two or three lecturers. The colleagues can belong to your subject area or not.
The programme is aimed at lecturers at the University of Oldenburg who would like to reflect on and further develop their teaching skills through peer-to-peer exchange. Participation is free of charge.
This is what you can expect from this offer:
- Introductory course: getting to know the participants, procedure and preparation of the "peer observation", organisation of the groups for the observations, feedback rules
- Independent implementation of the mutual visits in one of your courses (online or face-to-face event) including preparation and feedback discussion
- Joint final event: reflection on the method, feedback and personal development opportunities
- Writing a personal report on your peer observation (required for the course certificate in the certificate programme), feedback from the lecturer
