Protest.moves.Uni. (2024)
Exhibition from 10 March to 5 May 2024
Date: 10 March to 5 May 2024
Location: Peterstraße 42, former teachers' seminar
To mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Oldenburg, the exhibition Protest.bewegt.Uni is dedicated to the diverse protest cultures that have shaped the history of the university. From the controversy surrounding the eponym Carl von Ossietzky to environmental and equal rights movements and current climate protests, the exhibition focuses on student engagement and social change processes.
Through public calls for objects and interviews with contemporary witnesses, a diverse collection of personal memories, protest materials and perspectives was compiled, which now make the exhibition lively and polyphonic. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with questions of democracy, change and participation and to contribute their own perspectives. The exhibition will be on display from 10 March to 5 May 2024 in the former teachers' seminar at Peterstraße 42 - a historical site that is itself part of Oldenburg's university history.
The exhibition project was conceived by students on the "Museum and Exhibition" and "Cultural Analyses" Master's degree programmes and realised in co-operation with the Oldenburg City Museum. The project was supervised by Ria Marleen Glaue (Stadtmuseum Oldenburg) and Dr Steffen Wiegmann (Stadtmuseum Oldenburg).
